Being connected and available 24/7 on your computer and/or phone means there is an endless stream of information coming at you constantly that can be hard to separate yourself from. Even casual scrolling bombards you with news stories, celebrity gossip, and potentially upsetting images, and with email and text accessible on almost all phones it gives the impression to others that you are reachable all the time. Suddenly every notification is a distraction from living your life. Unplug yourself to reset your mind. Social media is a great way to stay connected, promote yourself and find a support network you love and trust, but establishing healthy boundaries with your social media, text and email will help reduce the stress that comes with it. Limit screen time to when you are actively doing a task and reduce passive scrolling.
