Guilt is an emotion felt when you are in conflict over having done something you feel you shouldn’t have done (or vice versa: guilt over not doing something you feel you should have done). It can stem from an underlying sense of responsibility you have to other people; when a person experiences burnout their productivity decreases and they struggle to keep up with even basic tasks, and when that means the sudden inability to do things for other people (driving your child to lessons, preparing family meals, work duties etc) there can be a tremendous feeling of guilt. You may believe that you are a bad person or that others are mad at you. Fight guilt with self-compassion; forgive yourself for what you consider your failings.Trust that others will understand your situation and respect that you need rest. You can’t do it all and that is ok.
