Apathy is a lack of interest or enthusiasm. When burnout goes unchecked you may find yourself in a place where you just don’t care anymore and lose interest in life, which is an indication of oncoming depression.Your motivation is diminished and you no longer wish to do things you once loved, make plans, or accomplish anything.You may experience low energy and feel indifferent or a total absence of emotion. Being overwhelmed for an extended period of time can lead to apathy and make it harder to pull yourself back up. Remember that it is a temporary state and you can turn it around. Identifying the causes of your apathy can help to overcome it, and so can shaking up your routine, reflecting on things that make you happy, setting easy goals for yourself, or visiting with supportive friends.
