VI - The Betrothed (Relationship)


Being romantically connected to another person is a big part of many peoples lives. Relationships are largely based on love and attraction, but healthy relationships also require trust, equality, communication, compromise, honesty, respect, mutual support, and safety. Maintaining individuality is also important. An unhealthy relationship may involve neglect, lack of privacy, arguments, manipulation, violence, threats, and/or controlling behaviour. No relationship is perfect and they can certainly be challenging, but they can also be improved. If you are unsure about your relation- ship you may find solutions that are healthy for all parties through counselling. One of the most important things you can do to practice self care is end a relationship that cannot be saved.
